My First Group

Conducted my first group tuition with three sec 2 gals from Canberra Secondary. One of the gals was my ex-student from SPS, the other 2 were her classmates. They needed help with their Maths as they have not been doing too well for the subject. Arranged to meet them at the McDonald at Civil Centre. Took me quite a while to settle in with them and to turn on my teaching mode as I haven't been teaching secondary Maths on a regular basis. But once my 'engine' was warm enough I was able to explain the concepts in a more comprehensive manner. Went through their test papers and pointed out the mistakes that they had made. Gave them some similar questions to practise so as to ensure their understanding of the concepts. Soon the 2-hour session was over and we were all famished (used too much brain power, I guess). I wasn't sure if the session has been helpful to them but I felt good to be able to teach secondary Maths again as Maths is a subject that one tends to lose touch of once we stop practising it. Glad to be given the chance to retain my knowledge on the subject before I lose it completely. Nevertheless, this being the first lesson, the rapport wasn't that established yet and hopefully I could do a better job for the subsequent lessons.

With the commencement of my first group tuition, my life has more or less gone back to normal. Normal in the sense that I am again actively involved in something that I have always enjoyed doing rather than idling at home which only made me feel useless. In fact, I'm now doing what I used to do, teaching primary students on weekdays and secondary students on weekends only that I'm doing the former in a Studentcare centre and not in a school. Though I'm not sure how long this arrangement will last, I'm still glad to be leading such a fruitful life again and shall take things as they come. As the saying goes, 'What will be will be. What won't be will never be.'

P.S.
My weekends are still not fully booked, so those who feel that you need help in your preparation for your final exams do feel free to book a slot with me.
